[Review] Call of Duty®: Black Ops III (2015)

As promised, Activision has unveiled the first official trailer for Call of Duty®: Black Ops III, the game that Treyarch Studio is preparing for the fall of 2015.

And although the manufacturers promise a game to take place in a dark future, in which technological implants and the latest discoveries in robotics will be used by Black Ops soldiers, what we see in the sequences below looks a little too much. with Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare, a title released by Activision last year.

However, even though it seems to take on the artistic style and basic concepts of the older brother Advanced Warfare, Call of Duty®: Black Ops III promises a major novelty for the series: the campaign is specially developed for the cooperative game mode with four characters, the watchword being, according to the producers, the replayability.

There will still be unique moments, spectacularly scripted, characteristic of the Call of Duty series, but this time, they will be complemented by huge outdoor spaces, which will allow a multitude of strategies. In addition, each player will be able to customize their hero, from weapons and arsenal, to skills and equipment, through the progression system implemented in this game mode.

Black Ops 3 will change a bit the "rules of the game" in competitive multiplayer, the most important change brought by Treyarch being the new way of moving based on movements that can be chained in a fluent way, such as thrust jump, slide and wall run. These will allow players to move easily through the environment, while maintaining complete control over the weapon provided. Multiplayer maps will be specially adapted for this new mode of travel, while allowing players to use parallel and traditional.

Last but not least, Treyarch returns to Zombies mode and Black Ops 3, which is conceived as a stand-alone game mode, with its own story, separate from everything that happens in the other components of the game. According to the manufacturers, Black Ops 3 will include the most ambitious Zombies mode to date, with a separate progression system designed to increase replayability.

Although we were used to the new Call of Duty titles being revealed every year using Xbox platforms, this time Activision has chosen to present the game on all three platforms that will appear this fall: PlayStation 4, Xbox One and, of course, the PC. The version dedicated to the Sony console will run using 1080p resolution and 60 frames per second, a framerate that will also be used by the Xbox One edition (whose resolution has not been revealed, however). Instead, the PC version of Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 will support 4K, with the first images in the game (which you can admire in this article) being delivered in this dizzying resolution.

In fact, Treyarch wanted to mention that the PC version of the game will not be treated as a "simple porting", each of the three editions of Black Ops 3 having dedicated teams working to optimize the game for each platform in part. To demonstrate the importance that the production team attaches to the PC version, Activision and Treyarch have already provided the necessary system requirements for Call of Duty®: Black Ops III.

    • Operating system: Windows 7 64-Bit / Windows 8 64-Bit / Windows 8.1 64-Bit
    • Processor: Intel Core i3-530 @ 2.93 GHz / AMD Phenom II X4 810 @ 2.60 GHz
    • RAM memory: 6 GB
    • Video card: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 470 @ 1GB / ATI Radeon HD 6970 @ 1GB
    • DirectX: version 11
    • Network: Broadband Internet connection
    • Sound card: DirectX compatible

Call of Duty®: Black Ops III will also be released for PS3 and Xbox 360

In a not surprising announcement, Activision has confirmed that this year's iteration of the Call of Duty series - Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 - will be released, in addition to PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, and for the old PlayStation 3 consoles and Xbox 360. Of course, the publisher motivated this choice by the fact that not all fans of the series have made the transition to the new generation of consoles and there must be a version of the game that they can enjoy.

However, Activision wanted to mention that Treyarch is developing Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 specifically for the new generation of hardware (the studio responsible for porting to PS3 and Xbox 360 has not been revealed), a series of gameplay options will be only available in PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC versions of the game. One such example is the Black Ops 3 campaign, which is cooperatively accessible to four players in the next-gen version of the game, and will be limited to just two players in the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 editions.

Call of Duty®: Black Ops III at E3 2015: multiplayer and partnership with Sony

Activision and Sony Computer Entertainment detonated the bomb at E3 2015. After years of the Call of Duty series being identified with Xbox platforms, receiving the first DLCs, the balance of power has changed: Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 has been present on the stage of Sony, where the new partnership between Activision and the PlayStation platform was announced.

Thus, starting with Call of Duty: Black Ops 3, Sony's platforms will receive DLC packs for the games of the series for the first time, but not mentioning the period of exclusivity (most likely it will be a month, as well as been so far in the case of Xbox consoles). Also, Sony will most likely be able to create and market its own PlayStation 4 bundles with future Call of Duty games.

On this occasion, those from the Treyarch production studio presented, on the Sony stage, the first gameplay sequences from the Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 campaign, played cooperatively by four people.

Call of Duty®: Black Ops III - over 11 minutes of gameplay from the co-op campaign

Activision and the Treyarch studio offered over 11 minutes of gameplay from the cooperative campaign in Call of Duty: Black Ops 3, probably the most important novelty that this game of the series will bring.

The Black Ops 3 campaign can also be co-oped with four online players, and each player's soldier can be customized in detail: from weapons and equipment, to skills and uniforms, all of which are organized in a system which progresses over time.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 - when the multiplayer beta will take place

After revealing the new zombie game mode (Shadows of Evil) for Call of Duty: Black Ops 3, Activision returns with new details about the future title of the most [CENSORED] first person shooter series in the world. This time it's about the beta testing session of the competitive multiplayer component of the game.

Although at E3 2015 a new partnership was announced between Activision and Sony, the multiplayer beta for Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 will take place on all three "modern" platforms for which the game is to be released: PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC. However, PlayStation 4 users will have priority, being the first to have the opportunity to try the game from Treyarch.

Thus, the multiplayer beta for Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 will start for PlayStation 4 on August 19, 2015 and will continue until Sunday, August 23, 2015. Then, the beta will become accessible for Xbox One and PC users starting on August 26, 2015 and will run until August 30, 2015. During the beta test session, players will have the opportunity to try out the competitive multiplayer in Call of Duty: Black Ops 3, including the new system of specialists that will be introduced by Treyarch in this game.

In fact, Treyarch has promised to provide, in the coming weeks, more details on what the multiplayer beta for Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 will have to offer. Everyone who places a pre-order for Call of Duty : Black Ops 3 will receive guaranteed access in this beta test session, regardless of the platform chosen (PC, PlayStation 4 or Xbox One). The promotion is valid both for the digital editions of the game, available through PlayStation Store, Xbox Live Store or Steam, and for the physical (retail) editions of the game, available in the profile stores.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 will be released on November 6, 2015, in versions for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC (made by Treyarch), PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 (made by Beenox and Mercenary Technology studios).

Activision and the Treyarch studio unveiled, at the 2015 San Diego Comic-Con, the new Zombies game mode that will be included in Call of Duty: Black Ops 3.

Called Shadows of Evil, it places players in a totally unfamiliar and terrifying world, in order to find out the secrets of a mysterious character who will subject them to all sorts of macabre trials. The action takes place in the period characteristic of the film current known as film noir, in the early '40s, intersecting the destinies of four key characters - The Magician, the Fatal Woman, the Policeman and the Boxer - all having the same experience instrumented by the mysterious Shadow Man.
